7 Thao Wessuwan Statuettes of 7 Divine Gestures in Satta Loha
by Devhatasilpakom

Each of these 7 Thao Wessuwan statuettes were cast on the most auspicious day as defined within the “Pichai Songkram” (The Art of War), the centuries-old texts of Siamese military strategies that include astrological guidelines to determine the optimal days to wage battle, and the ideal days to hold ceremonies to intimidate enemies or bolster morale among soldiers.

In addition, it advises the best days to initiate momentous life events such as embarking on new endeavors, traveling to new destinations, moving to new homes, launching new businesses, and investing in new opportunities that will lead to long term success and prosperity. Those most fortunate individuals who hold these Devhatasilpakom Thao Wessuwan gestures in their possession will be blessed with far-reaching protection, an abundance of good luck, and the enhanced ability to attract wealth and success into their lives.

“Satta Loha” is the alloy mixture of 7 precious metals including :
Iron, mercury, copper, silver, gold, pure copper and bornite (peacock ore) and purity. “Satta Loha” means 7 and the magnitude of each of these metals depends upon the underlying spiritual essence where the metal associated with each Thao Wessuwan gesture are :
1. “Rai Phra Vate” (Delivering the Sacred Mantra) - iron
2. “Uadsha Vasu” ( Wealth and Prosperity Comes as Wished Upon ) - mercury
3. “Dha ne suan” (God of Great Wealth, Presides Over Material Riches) - copper
4. “OngkarnThao Kuveru” (Prosperity by Order of the Giant God of Wealth) – silver
5. “Cha roen Suk” (Eternal Happiness Through Spiritual Liberation) – gold
6. “Yaksa Rachu” ( In Battle Against All Unwanted or Evil) – pure copper
7. “Vessuvan shaya ratanakara” (Auras of the Emanation of Lord Buddha) – purity

Once the 7 metals have been merged together, the “heart” of each of the 7 Scriptures within The “Abhidhamma Pitaka” (“Basket of Higher Doctrine”) are called upon to complete the casting ceremony, forever bonding the intrinsic meaning of the 7 metals to the meaning of the 7 Thao Wessuwan gestures, through the mantra :
“Sang vi tha pu ka ya pa”

Each of these terms represents the “heart”of the 7 Scriptures of The Abhidhamma Pitaka, being :
“Sang”- First Scripture
“vi”- Second Scripture
“tha”- Third Scripture
“pu”- Fourth Scripture
“ka”- Sixth Scripture
“ya”- Seventh Scripture
This highly sacred “Sang vi tha pu ka ya pa” mantra, also known as “SattaKhambhira Visarawan”, seeks his holiness Thao Wessuwan to send his avatar to descend and reside in all 7 gestures, so that those who possess them are protected, supported, provided with inner fulfillment, and blessed with abundant happiness.

Satta Loha Metal
Legend has it that Luaug Poo Eiam, a renowned elder monk of high ranking at Wat Sapan Soong, a temple in Nontaburi on the outskirts of Bangkok, once commissioned an extraordinary spear made of Satta Loha that held almighty supernatural powers. The spear was used by Krai Thong, a local merchant of vast knowledge, to ultimately defeat Chalawan, the gigantic and fearsome Crocodile King of Pichit Province
Because of this belief in its immense preternatural powers, the Satta Loha was used as the primary metal to cast the 7 Thao Wessuwan gestures. The mighty baton of Thao Wessuwan was cast with a talisman inscribed with the mystical powers of each gesture. Specially selected metal-smiths were required to repeat the mantras of all seven Thao Wessuwan gestures, chanting ceaselessly throughout the casting ceremony to strengthen each gesture’s magical powers. The more fervently they chanted, the more effective the powers would become. The ceremony saw exquisitely arranged rice and betel nut offerings presented to the Hindu God Braham and heavenly angels as a gesture of utmost respect.

Mekhasit Metal
The highly sacred Mekhasit metal contains a mixture similar to its twin, the Mekhapad, created with much the same methods of casting. Master casters throughout the centuries called the production of Mekhasit alloy a process of alchemy, the ancient pursuit of transmuting the properties of metal from one physical form to another. Mekhasit metals hold an inordinate amount of spiritual power attained from the deeply esoteric chanting of mantras used to make them. The Mekhasit consists of 4 metals – silver, zinc, copper and mercury, and has powers instilled by the following mantra for all-round protection, prosperity and happiness :

“Na ma pa ta” - the mantra of the 4 elements :
Earth – Water – Fire –Air
Na – water element, represents a popularity and good reputation
ma – earth element – represents being invincible
pa – fire element, helps protects against evil spirits
ta – air element, protects against unwanted enemies
Strengthening the power of the 4 elements mantra :
“Ja pa ka sa”
Ja – Enhances the water element for true peace and happiness. A caretaker of others.
pa – Enhances the earth element for overall physical strength.
ka – Enhances the fire element, destroys all things evil. Protects against illness.
sa – Enhances the air element, extinguishing all obstacles and misfortunes.
